What does it mean to be a Power Scavenger?

Being a Power Scavenger is much more than simply wearing a belt that produces electricity and charges your devices. A Power Scavenger is an identity that must be adopted if we hope to move forward and make progress on major issues we see in the world, namely climate change.  A scavenger doesn’t simply accept the world as it is but instead chooses to view their surroundings through a more complex and inquisitive lense. The term scavenger itself originates from a collection of phrases that mean to scrutinize, examine, and cognate. This is a crucial aspect of a Power Scavenger. It’s vital to closely observe your surroundings for what they are and then come to your own conclusions instead of allowing others to dictate your views. With this commitment to scrutiny and cognition a scavenger is able to see the world, and all of its problems through a unique lense and therefore come up with unique solutions to these problems.

A scavenger isn’t just someone that observes and then dreams up solutions. A scavenger is someone that uses the resources at their disposal to survive and thrive. Think of an ancient hunter that uses their keen senses and finely tuned mind to enter the forest and find sustenance and supplies from areas that most would consider uninhabitable. They don’t destroy the natural world, nor do they drastically deplete its resources. Instead a Scavenger sees the untapped potential in what most would consider useless and then thrives from it. It’s not always about about creation of new resources but more about using what we already have in new and creative ways. A vulture, often used as the embodiment of a scavenger, survives off of food that other animals would simply let go to waste. A Scavenger turns waste into gold.

A Power Scavenger is the modern version of our badass ancestors that used their keen senses to thrive using the resources of the earth. A Power Scavenger is able to scavenge more than just food from their surroundings, they can scavenge electricity itself. They can power the technology that defines the modern age without creating destructive waste. The Scavenger knows that any destruction brought unto the environment is destruction brought unto themselves. Technology can and should allow us to coexist with our planet in new and incredible ways, not destroy it. Technology has the potential to make this incredible world even more awe inspiring. A Power Scavenging uses technology to enhance the natural world, not destroy it. They do this by using the energy that is already being used and wasted every day! A Power Scavenger converts what most would consider waste into the very fundamental of our current world. The world has some incredible problems but the solutions to these problems already exist!
